7/23/07:
Last week we spent at week in the NJ pinelands at Camp Delanco, a Weslyan camp with 71 4th, 5th and 6th graders. The theme was Welcome to the Garden State, with the focus on Galatians and The Fruits of the Spirit. When they had all the kids together to get their attention, the person in charge would say "WELCOME TO THE GARDEN STATE" and the kids would respond "FUGGEDABOUTIT" (translated: "forget about it") Anyway, it was Jason and my first time ever staying at camp. After the initial stress about taking care of an almost 1 year old in the middle of the Pine Barrens, we both settled into a nice routine. Scott was busy preparing for his talks all day, so we didn't get to spend a lot of time together as a family. But it was a special time, and I'm already looking forward to next year! Here are some pictures from last week!

This is called the "motel". It's where the leaders and the nurse and their families stayed:

Jason loved the beach, and was a little irritated with me this day b/c I wouldn't let him go in the water!

After you get past the bugs and the smell, it's really a beautiful place.

Every night there was a little drama which the actors portrayed a lack of a certain "fruit of the spirit". This scene was a lack of gentleness; Scott had broken eggs, spilled water and broke a toy and I was supposed to hand him Jason. Before I handed him over, the kid in the white robe fed Scott a piece of actual fruit while everyone prayed and all of the sudden he was gentle. Pretty good enactment!

It's so much fun to play patty-cake in the woods!

But really, he could have spent all day just sitting in the water and being a happy boy. Thank goodness for Pamper swimpants! :)

Thanks for looking if you made it to the end. I know it was a lot! I have a ton more pictures, but I just selected a few to share. If you want to see more of the camp, check my site: www.flickr.com/photos/karenbostwick
